RED HERCULANEUM Italian pigment Dolci
Herculaneum red is a natural inorganic mineral pigment. It is obtained from the purification, drying and grinding of red earth from the Venetian quarries, composed of minerals such as calcium sulphate, iron oxide and others.
This pigment has high light stability and good humidity stability. It requires a medium amount of thinner, and creates a slightly earthy, fluid paste. It is a compact color with a medium-high coloring effect. Furthermore, it has a medium-high covering power.
Recommendation for use: Possibility of using it for different decorative techniques, such as oil, tempera, encaustic and fresco.
Also known as: Pompeian red, Pozzuoli earth, hematite and Verona red earth.
