The volume is the Catalog of the Florence exhibition (Accademia Gallery, 30 March - 11 October 2015). Medieval works of Franciscan commission are compared with Asian works of the same period. This is to underline and analyze the very close relationships between the Franciscan order and the lands of eastern evangelization between the fifteenth and fifteenth centuries, from Egypt to China, from Jerusalem to Mongolia. The essays in the catalog and the selection of works range from paintings and sculptures (Giunta di Capitino, Taddeo Gaddi, Carlo Crivelli, Nicola Pisano, Andrea della Robbia), miniatures, applied arts of Franciscan subject and documents that testify to the evangelizing work of characters as Odorico da Pordenone, Giovanni da Pian del Carpine and Giovanni da Montecorvino.
