This pigment of mineral and inorganic origin was known by the Greeks in the classical age. It is an iron phosphate octohydrate which is obtained by grinding the base material. Has a
moderate covering power and can be used with fresco, tempera, encaustic and oil.
Clear and transparent crystals of a color ranging from very light blue to the deepest one to bluish green. This vivianite is of an intense dark blue color.
