Chromium oxide green is an inorganic mineral pigment.
This pigment is obtained through the reduction of sodium dichromate with sulfur, at high temperature.
Furthermore, the richness of tone of these chromium oxides varies according to the washings and calcinations to which the products obtained are subjected. Chrome green can also be obtained by heating potassium dichromate with baric acid in special refractory earth muffles. The result is a chromium sesquioxide containing 2 formation water molecules.
This pigment in the hydrated version makes a green with a very pure emerald tone.
