In western Burgundy, south and north of the Loire River, numerous mines have produced a local shade of natural ocher earth. Long before it became famous for its wines, and ocher was mined from the earth, thin layers of iron ore were mined in the region, creating a smelting industry and contributing to its wealth. The ocher veins run only about a meter thick, and usually deep into the earth.
Yellow Burgundy Ocher (color index PY 43.77492) is suitable for Tempera, Watercolour, Cement / Tadelakt, Oil, Acrylics, Lime / Fresco.
