It is a combination of traditional plaster with an acrylic polymer, added with a white pigment and additives, which guarantee its flexibility, excellent sandability and long life.
It can be used as a sealant, for preparing canvases for painting, or as a primer for the correct application of gold leaf. The acrylic plaster can be colored.
Procedure:
- Ready to use for brush applications, it is preferable to dilute with water (maximum 15 - 20%) for spray applications. If applied as a base for the application of gold leaf, it is recommended to dye the plaster red-orange, to imitate the color of the red bole and enrich the final appearance of the gold leaf. For silver leaf it is preferable to use a dark or black color.
- Apply two or three coats of plaster, preferably waiting each time for the plaster to dry, with times that will vary depending on the thickness and weather conditions.
- Before applying the gold leaf, sand carefully to obtain a smooth surface. Start with coarse sandpaper (150-180) and continue with increasingly finer grit (350 - 600 - 1200), taking care to proceed each time in a direction crossing the previous one.
- Once the surface is smooth and free of defects apply the mission and then the gold/silver leaf.
