Chinese mineral cinnabar, Kremer pigment

Cinnabar is a red mercury sulfide (cinnabar). This unique red-orange pigment with bluish tendencies cannot be reproduced by mixing other pigments.

Mineral originating from China (where cinnabar is said to have been first used in the second millennium BC). This exceptional quality cinnabar is mined in Hunan County. It is a pigment based on mercury sulphide, of great purity and of a red lacquer colour.

It has good covering power and is  suitable for tempera, watercolor, oil, acrylics.
