Decal leaf differs from free leaf because it's supported by tissue paper, which protrudes and can be removed from the sheet, making it easier and quicker to pick up and apply.
Decal leaf is normally used with the mission gilding technique (bole gilding is also possible) and is recommended for decorating smooth, flat surfaces. In the decal format, the leaf adheres to the tissue paper by pressing without the use of any glue.
Decal leaf can also be cut with ordinary scissors if necessary to shape the portion of gold to be applied.
