In the new Dal Molin joinery blog we will proceed to illustrate the preparation of the wooden boards for iconography, one of the leading products of the Dal Molin company, which has specialized in this type of processing.
The choice of wood
The wood that is usually used is lime, because it is a very homogeneous, tender, and simple to work type of wood.
Poplar is also used, for the production of cheaper boards.
Before processing the icon boards, the wood must be completely seasoned and dried.
For large tables, multi-layered edged or honeycomb boards with honeycomb inside made of wood are produced.
Falegnameria Dal Molin produces tables for icons in linden wood in rectangular, smooth or with cradle format, and tables in linden in particular sizes, round, oval, arched, cusp shaped and much more.
Format and proportions
Once the wood has been selected, the table must be cut, naturally according to the format. The proportions will be calculated according to the size chosen for the icon.
In the next articles we will further deepen the processing techniques for the icon boards, available, together with many other products, also in our online shop.
