It is a bright purple pigment that contains cobalt. Depending on the temperature during production, the color of cobalt phosphate varies from more reddish to more purplish. The shade of this cobalt purple is the lightest available. The pigment is transparent and not very opaque.
It is suitable for watercolor painting, but should be used immediately after mixing the paint. Cobalt violet can also be easily worked into tempera and almost all acrylic dispersions, with the exception of dispersion K 9 (#75367). We do not recommend this cobalt purple for oil paints due to its extremely slow drying.
